Most clients need two to three fittings for gown alterations. We recommend booking in an appointment with us for your first fitting as soon as your gown arrives. If further alterations are needed, we can discuss the timing of these with you in detail during your first fitting.
We recommend you contact us as soon as you have a delivery date for your dress. This ensures we can schedule your fittings in and complete your alterations ready for your big day.
Yes, we can accommodate for last-minute ‘rush appointments’ with very short timeframes of 1-3 days. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Prices for alterations differ depending on the job and your individual requirements. For all quotes, please contact us.
A 20% deposit is required at the first fitting. However, if your garment requires specialist materials, we may ask you to pay for those materials upfront. For example, you may wish to incorporate a particular bead or fabric which we require payment for to be able to source that product for you.
If the dress you have purchased or been given is too small, our seamstresses will recommend some options that will help you achieve the style you want in a dress that beautifully fits your form. For example, we might recommend a corset closure or mesh panelling to accommodate your needs.
We understand that bodies can change – this is completely normal. If you notice a significant change to your body, we ask that you notify our team as soon as possible to book in an additional fitting. We want to ensure that you feel and look your best on your special day. The fitting will help us to accommodate any additional alterations needed.
A bustle is an additional alteration that can be added to a gown to ensure the train of the gown is kept off the floor. There are two types of bustles that we can add to gowns: an under-bustle or an over-bustle. We will discuss each option with you so you can decide which will work best for your dress and needs.
We don’t provide dry cleaning services. If you’re looking for a dry cleaner that specialises in luxury items and bridal attire, we recommend contacting LDC Luxury Dry Cleaners. However, Altered by Jen can steam garments if required.
